the world has gone mad!
remember when i said i actually liked The Umbrellas of Cherbourg? it's a French musical that should have sucked, but amazingly did not. i went to see a Korean movie the other day, titled The Legend of Evil Lake and it sucked. this is the first Korean movie i have not liked. everything else from the ROK has been wonderful, but this, this was crap! am i in Bizarro world? to compound matters even further, Eisenstein's The Battleship Potemkin also did not suck. i actually enjoyed, even though it's redder than steak cooked rare. gah!

movies
you may have been wondering at my recent silence. well, wonder no more. i have been watching a ridiculous amount of movies. yeah, that's it. i wish i had been saving the world from intergalactic civil war, but alas, i was merely watching movies.
for the completists out there, a list is included (keep in mind, this is since the end of school, so about a month). with the sole exceptions of Fellini's Satyricon and Cimino's Deer Hunter, The, these were all excellent movies and i recommend them to all. biggest surprise in the whole bunch was Demy's Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The. this was in French and a musical, so i thought i was gonna hate it, but i loved it. weird, huh?
without further nonsense, the movies i've watched in the month since i've been out of prison:
Sori's Ping Pong (2002)
Resnais' Nuit et brouillard (Night and Fog) (1955)
Petersen's Troy (2004)
Kitano's Hana-bi (Fireworks) (1997)
Wayans' I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988)
Cuarón's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Kitano's Sonatine (1993)
The History Channel's Tokyo Rose - Victim of Propaganda (1995)
Kurosawa's Waga seishun ni kuinashi (No Regrets for Our Youth) (1946)
Herzog's Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre, the Wrath of God) (1972)
Demy's Parapluies de Cherbourg, Les (Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The) (1964)
Eisenstein's ¡Que Viva Mexico! - Da zdravstvuyet Meksika! (1979)
Cimino's Deer Hunter, The (1978)
Capra's Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)
Dieterle's Devil and Daniel Webster, The (1941)
