Oscar nominations...
...are a scant six hours away as i write this. things that totally need to happen with these nominations:
1. Ken Watanabe gets Supporting Actor: motherfucker done rocked it in Memoirs
2. Jarhead gets something: not necessarily Best Movie (although it should totally be a contender), but something. maybe Gyllehaal can get a Best Actor nom (but he'll lose to Heath Ledger), or Jamie Foxx can get a Supporting Actor nom (but he'll lose to Watanabe)
3. i don't look like a total idiot when it turns out Memoirs came out too late for the Oscars this year
4. Capote loses in everything because, you know, fuck Truman Capote.
5. Serenity gets a Special Effects or Make-Up nomination (but King Kong'll probably take SFX)
6. Sin City for Cinematography! whoo! ...wait, what exactly is cinematography again? whatever it is, i'm sure Sin City rocked it.
7. is there a category for Most Awesome Movie That Totally Rocked thecomicman's Meerkats 'cause Mr. and Mrs. Smith will totally take it. totally.
i guess that's all for now, but expect another post sometime in the near future.

3. G.I. Joe: The Movie (favorite new recruit): Jinx (correctly guessed by ET)
4. X-men (favorite X-man): Jubilee (correctly guessed by Rick)
5. Green Lantern Corps (favorite member besides Guy 'cause that'd be too easy):
6. Darkwing Duck (favorite villain): Megavolt (correctly guessed by twistyarm)
7. Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers (favorite Rescue Ranger): Gadget (correctly guessed by Erin)
8. Firefly/Serenity (favorite crew member):
9. Star Trek TNG (favorite character): Captain Jean-Luc Picard (correctly guessed by Erin)
10. Star Trek DS9 (favorite character): Jadzia Dax (correctly guessed by twistyarm)
11. Battlestar Galactica (favorite character [from the new series]): Starbuck (correctly guessed by twistyarm)
12. Pulp Fiction (favorite line):
13. Ghost in the Shell (favorite Section 9 member): Major Motoko Kusanagi (correctly guessed by Erin)
14. Street Fighter (favorite character): Chun Li (correctly guessed by ET)
15. Mega Man (favorite bad guy robot):
16. Super Mario Bros. (favorite game): Super Mario Bros. 3 (correctly guessed by Rick)
17. Fullmetal Alchemist (favorite homunculous):
18. Cowboy Bebop (favorite episode): Pierrot le Fou (correctly guessed by Erin)
19. O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack (favorite song):
20. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (favorite character):
Bonus. Oasis (favorite brother):
so yeah. second, third, fourth, nineteenth guesses are allowed. you get points for correct answers, as well as close to correct answers. however, you also get points docked for super wrong answers. okay... go!

kids are creepy
as often as we in the industry say we want more kids to start reading comics, you know, to keep it alive, more often than not, kids just creep me out. their unabashed love of the medium is freakish to behold much in the same way a dork's inability to shut the hell up about any given topic is. these children don't know that their thirty-minute long tirade on the awesomeness of Batman is socially unacceptable... for adults. since they are children, we allow them their rantings because they are, in fact, children, and at some point in the nebulous future, they shall grow out of them. or so we hope. it irks me because i have to deal with the ravings of adults on an almost daily basis, and when children come in and do the same, i can picture only their future selves: overweight, greasy, smelly, individuals with poor eyesight, two friends, and no rent to pay (their mothers thinking only about having their darling boys a short walk downstairs, which is payment enough).
