Since I Told Erin Already, You Probably Already Know
Sam and I are moving to Hong Kong for six months!
Crazy? Yes. Awesome? YES!
Sam is going on a six month assignment to HK, and I'm tagging along for the ride! We're not leaving NYC until September 14th or 15th, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to see us before we vamoose.
I plan on Skyping in on all Queens party D&D games, as well as maybe Brooklyn, so some of you will hear the dulcet tones of my voice every week anyway (maybe twice!) It'll be like I never left!
We plan on coming for a week in November for Scott and Ali's wedding. The assignment ends in March, so we'll be back in time for our own wedding at the end of April (with plenty of time for bachelor/bachelorette D&D parties in between).
Yes, I know Hong Kong is technically Communist, but Beijing allows it its autonomy (they even hold semi-democratic elections like the US does!) mostly because Hong Kong brings in a lot of money. I also know that HK is a weird new place with a weird new culture, but it was a colony of Britain until relatively recently, so there is a large expat community to soften the culture shock.
I don't what I'll be doing for six months. I will attempt to get a job (possibly as a private detective), but there is a work visa issue that has to be taken care of by any prospective employer. So there is a very real chance that I will be jobless for six months. Since Sam's company is paying for lots of things, it's no big deal, and I'll have six months of uninterrupted writing (in which I will finally finish editing this gosh dang novel of mine and distribute it to you peoples for further editing).
Also, there are many Asian countries nearby that one can fly to cheaply from HK (so that I may finally set foot on another continent, as England, Japan, and Singapore are all islands and don't count). I foresee a few weekend jaunts here and there).
So yeah, super exciting!
I'm sure Sam will post something with more information as she is wont to do.
